FOR WASCO COUNTY COMMISSIONER
About Dan
Dan grew up in The Dalles (TDHS '91) where he met his wife, Judy, and where, for the past 20 years, they have lived and raised their daughter Zora (TDHS '22), now in college. Dan works at a soil and water conservation district. He partners with private landowners and small communities to strengthen wildfire defense, improve native habitats, and restore healthy streams. Besides his love of family and natural resources, Dan devotes some effort to his community, volunteering and serving on The Dalles City Council. He chaired the city-county joint "climate resilience" ad hoc committee in 2022-23; and he participates in several other committees. He believes local government is best when it operates day-to-day services efficiently and also has an eye on long-term trends and challenges. He appreciates the fact that local elected officials like city councilors and county commissioners are non-partisan seats, because local government is not about serving political parties but about serving neighbors.
